Stained Glass Artist Edie Martin
"Stained glass art has been my passion for over 30 years.
I have studied the history of stained glass, explored galleries, researched antique patterns and investigated the distinct styles of stained glass artists from all over the world. The investigation process is ongoing and it gives inspiration for the designs that I create."

The Madonna and Child Icon is symbolic of the mystery of the incarnation of Christ and the beauty of his mother. The frontal pose and the stillness and solemnity of the countenances that are typical of icons, show the influence of Byzantine, Orthodox and Coptic art. The details, such as the designs on the garments, are achieved by using sandblasting on flashed/layered glass to expose the under layer of the glass. The facial features and other details are painted with enamel paints that are kiln-fired for permanency.
Size: 12" x 9" - 14.25" x 11.25" framed
The Holy Family This composition shows the holy family while traveling, and is done in vibrant colored glass and patterning with a simplicity of line and style that gives a contemporary feel to the piece. The styling is uniquely influenced by Orthodox icons and Coptic Christian art. The details, such as the designs on the garments, are achieved by using sandblasting on flashed/layered glass to expose the under layer of the glass. The facial features and other details are painted with enamel paints that are kiln-fired for permanency.
