Stained
Glass Process
Every stained glass piece begins with ideas, and
the process of transforming the ideas into a concrete reality begins with
sketches. After a design comes together on paper I begin to experiment with
color combinations, all the while thinking about the types of glass that
will embody the ideas in the best way. After the glass is chosen, I cut
the pieces of glass to the pattern’s shapes and sizes, and then pieces of
lead are placed between the glass pieces and soldered to make the whole
panel hold together. The panel is cemented to fill all the spaces between
the glass and the lead, and it makes the panel much stronger and more rigid.
After cementing the piece is thoroughly cleaned to complete the process.
