Madonna and Child with Poinsettia
Madonna and Child with Poinsettia, though showing the influence of Orthodox Christian art from Ethiopia and Egypt, is partially based on the Mexican legend of the poinsettia. In the legend, two poor children chose to pick some weeds as a gift to give to the Christ Child, the only gift they had to offer. Their gift, coming from their pure hearts, turned into the red flowers and beautiful green foliage of the poinsettia. The details are completed by sandblasting on flashed/layered glass and enamel paints that are kiln-fired.
